My Classroom Theme Inspiration Linky (freebie)!

Happy Sunday Sweet Friends,
Today I'm linking up with Corinna at Surfin' Through Second on a topic that I absolutely love: Classroom Themes!!
I am in love, crazy about, adore, PIRATES!! I don't know how my fascination came to be with pirates, but it just grew on me & before I knew it, I was obsessed with my theme. It may be because my students love it and are so enthusiastic about it. It's been my classroom theme for about 4-5 years now & I add to it every year, so I have quite the collection. This year, I've decided to add black/white/red polka dots into the mix of pirates.
I must apologize, because I am not good with taking pictures of my classroom, especially since I am on summer vacation. So I am going to show you pictures of things that I have in my classroom that are a part of my pirate theme.
I am so excited to purchase this kit & use these ideas from Schoolgirl Style:

My newest favorite school supply place is MPM School Supplies!! Several bloggers have been posting about it! I'm ordering these cute borders to use:

I use this bulletin board set & border on my classroom window for the beginning of the year. It says "Ahoy First Grade Mateys, Welcome Aboard!"
I made Deanna Jump's palm tree last year which sits in the corner when you enter my classroom:
Around my bathroom door, I stuck these pirate wall decals that I found on clearance at Michael's last year!
Here is some pirate decor that I bought from fellow bloggers...
This is the writing chart that I use from Donna at Kinderglynn:
I have these numbers & types of sentences posters from the gals at Made for 1st Grade:
I was so excited when I saw this Pirate Alphabet from Katie at Little Warriors! I snatched it right up!
On my one wall of my classroom, I hung up netting from Oriental Trading & that's where I hang my classroom rules and rules for good listening.

I just made this file to share with you of rules in "Pirate Speak!" I can't take credit for coming up with the actual rules. I found them somewhere on the internet when I first started my pirate theme. I made them into posters. Click on the picture if you would like to download them for FREE from my TPT store!
On another wall, I create a bulletin board out of pirate fabric that says "Mrs. Richling's Landlubbers". Then I snap a picture of each student standing next to this giant inflatable pirate:
Then, I cut out their picture & glue it on a brown scroll accent & hot glue it on the fabric. The kids love seeing their pictures up there.
That's about all for my classroom theme linky! Now that I'm blogging on a regular basis, I know I'll be better about snapping pictures of my classroom. :) Go and link up with Corinna and share your classroom theme ideas!
Yesterday I blogged about a chance to win my newest creation, my Kids of Character Pack!
You still have time to enter to win one of these packs. Click HERE to go to that blog post & leave a comment for a chance to win one. I will do the random number generator tonight at 6:00 pm EST!
I am almost to 500 followers!! Since I am currently having a GIVEAWAY (click here to go and enter), I thought why not make something to give to everyone. So I'm currently beginning to work on a back to school pack to give away to everyone when I hit 500 followers. :)
Join me tomorrow for Tara's Monday Made It!! It's my best one yet! I'm so excited to unveil my latest creation!!
Have a super Sunday!,

  11. I love all of your ideas. I was hoping that you would post about your theme seeing as how I am so totally obsessed with the Pirate thing myself. I think it helps me to know that I am not alone in my obsession so I keep creating and getting carried away. I found the cutest little swords to stick in cupcakes today while looking for drink umbrellas. I immediately thought of you. I even told my hubby, Lisa would love these. (He totally knew who I was talking about too because I love your ideas and talk about you all the time hehe.) Thanks for being an inspiration to me in more ways than just Pirates :)

  21. So cute! I'm glad to see you are using polka dots with your pirate theme as well. For some reason, polka dot patterns seemed to match the pirate theme, so that's what I'm using next year.
