Blogger Pet Peeves!

Happy Tuesday Friends,
I am OFFICIALLY on summer vacation as of this morning!!! Now I can join the millions of you who are making all of these awesome summer pinterest crafts and staying in your pajamas all day long. Ahh the thought of it gives me warm fuzzies inside!
I read a post by Jessica from Mrs. Stanford's Class this morning that just made me crack up. I love her dearly! She has an amazing blog if you haven't seen it already. We are both very similar in the fact that we are comment-a-holics! I enjoy showing the love to my fellow bloggers by commenting as much as possible, whether it's about an idea or a product that is posted. As I'm sure many of you would agree, comments fill our buckets!
So I am joining Jessica for her linky:
Comment-a-holic
On to the pet peeves:
Pet Peeve #1: Word Verification After Comments
Of course it is your choice if you wish to have this on your blog and I respect that. It personally drives me crazy because the robot keeps changing it's format, and I can't read it. You are talking to someone who has 20/20 vision, and I can't even make out the characters! You may not realize that you have this on your blog. I didn't realize it was on my blog until a few weeks ago. Jessica reminded me that Rachelle from What a Teacher Wants had a tutorial on this a while back. If you want to turn it off, follow these steps:
Go to "Settings"
Click on "Posts and Comments"
Where it says "Show Word Verification", select "no".
And voila! No more robot!
Pet Peeve #2: Bad Grammar and Spelling
Maybe this is a teacher thing, but bad spelling & grammar is my pet peeve. I think it's more about spelling with me! Call it OCD...I like to read correct spelling and have everything make sense! LOL
Pet Peeve #3: Fonts I Can't Read
I love cute fonts more than anything, but please make it a font that is able to be read & keep it at a normal size. I haven't stumbled across this problem too much around teacher blogs, but there have been other blogs that strain my eyes to the max!
Go and link up with Jessica at Mrs. Stanford's Class and share your blogging pet peeves! :)
Happy Summer Friends!,

  3. Your pet peeve about spelling and grammar made me chuckle a bit. I can't help it, but typos jump out at me. It is a daily struggle to not say something to people unless they have asked me to proofread something. Oh, and someone gave me that same tip about taking the word verification off my blog. I hope it's working :)

  6. Hi Lisa! Your post made me laugh. I think I have all those very same pet peeves, except I had to turn on the word verification. I was getting the most random comments with wacky links. Not one, not two, but like ten spam comments! Any idea on how to stop spam without word verification? I hate it but right now I'm finding it to be a necessity. Welcome to summer!

    1. LOL you are funny! One suggestion I would have is to moderate your comments if you have spam concerns. If you look at the screen snapshot that I took above, there is a link above the word verification that says "Comment Moderation". If you choose "always", then you can get a sneak preview of your comments and approve them before they go on your blog. :) Hope that helps!

  8. LOL! I hate the robot! I turned mine off once and ended up getting random spam comments. I think maybe people don't comment as much on my blog because of the word verification (that or they don't find anything I post useful...let's go with the first thought!)

  11. This post is great! I go through phases with commenting. Sometimes I do it a LOT and other times I take a 'break' from it. :)

I agree with the word verification though. I always have to ask my hubby what it says. I type what I think and 9 times out of 10 I'm wrong!

I would also love to know how you got the reply button in your comments! I'm afraid I'll mess my blog up if I try to change anything! :)

  21. That's funny about the proofreading. I was playing a Tumblebooks story for my kids the other day and actually paused it to shoot the company an e-mail saying-there was a mistake in the print. Sometimes I'm typing something up fast and last minute, but always reread it-I know those typos pop out at me! :)

  24. Oh my gracious...I 100% agree about the robots! I'm always getting them wrong and trying to make a smart guesses about what the tiny, wavy symbols that are contorting in all sorts of weird ways might possibly be:) Happy to hear I'm not the only one who is robot-challenged!
