It's Throwback Thursday!!!

Happy Thursday Friends!!,

I totally adore sweet Cara from The First Grade Parade!!! She is such a genius with classroom ideas and I aspire to have half of the talent that she has. She just started a new linky called Throwback Thursday which revisits old blog posts with good tips that you may have missed previously.

Today I'm revisiting my post about Class Dojo which I posted a little over a year ago! Have you ever used Class Dojo with your students as a behavior management tool? If you haven't, you must check it out. It is free to use and is rising in popularity. Read on!...

Do You Know the Do-Jo?

Happy Almost Friday Friends!,
Praise the Lord! I have 1 day left!! I am just beyond exhausted & am looking forward to a relaxing summer break. It's definitely not my kids. I'm just running on empty right now.
It's been a busy summer fun-filled week! We had a lot of fun with our Watermelon Day, Ice Cream Day, Beach Day, and our end of the year candy awards! For our end of the year awards, I created a Photostory presentation of our year in pictures, read the parents a heartfelt letter and then I LOST IT! This was me...
Which then set some of my parents off and we were having a sob fest! I have been completely blessed with 2 great classes in a row. It's amazing how much of an impact these children can have on you in a year's time. I will miss them dearly.
Soooo...have you heard of Class Dojo?

Behavior Management Software
Class Dojo is one of my favorite classroom management tools! Class Dojo is an easy way to engage your class by recognizing positive behaviors. The website is www.classdojo.com. You create a class list on the website and then decide which positive behaviors you will recognize (see below for examples). You assign a cute avatar for each student, and then you can keep it up on your projector throughout the school day. Each time you have a student that you want to recognize for a behavior, you click on their avatar & choose the behavior that they will be recognized for. Then they get a point! Each time they get a point, it makes a sound to notify the students.

You have to love the movie star examples on the tutorial...Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt...lol.
Here are some examples of some of the behaviors that you can reward:

You can also take points away for any negative behaviors if you wish to do that:

You can also print behavior report cards and reports for Behavior Improvement Plans. It's documentation made easy! You can do it for one day or over a span of days & weeks. Here is an example of the behavior report:

The best part....You can use your smartphone as a class remote by visiting http://mobile.classdojo.com. This really helps while I'm teaching my small guided reading groups, and I want to give or take away any points. My personal feedback: My class LOVES this!! They really responded well to it & it helped them try harder to make better choices. My most challenging ones seemed to really take to this program. It's another great way to incorporate technology into the classroom, which I can't get enough of!!
Have you used ClassDojo before? I'd love to hear what you think!
