Teaching Character Education Throughout the Year & Flash Giveaway!!

Happy Weekend Friends!,
Wow! What a crazy day yesterday! A lightning strike blew out my satellite, I had to jump start my neighbor's car, my daughter got a hold of the sunscreen and lathered herself up, she put 1/2 a roll of toilet paper in the toilet, and then she decided to color on the wall. Praise the Lord for Magic Eraser, that's all I have to say! The terrible 2s have passed and the even more terrible 3s are here. Needless to say, I had a nice tall glass of *something* refreshing last night!
Do you have a character education program that you use in your classroom every year to teach valuable traits to your students?
I used to think to myself, when am I going to find the time to add this to my already overflowing schedule of curriculum? I had a teammate that I've worked with since the beginning of my teaching career who just retired--I'm going to miss her dearly. She really was an inspirational teacher. She taught life skills in her classroom every year. It got me thinking how essential it is that we teach our students valuable character traits throughout the year.
It is not a secret that some of our students come from homes that may not expose them to these important life traits. It becomes our responsibility to teach them about the specific traits & virtues that they must use to cope in life.
In my character education curriculum, I am teaching a character trait or virtue a week to my students. I have a poster for each trait with a definition and a pictorial example with dialogue. We will briefly go over the character trait/virtue daily throughout the week. I also developed a yearly journal for students to complete along with each character virtue every week. At the end of the year, they will have a journal complete of all of the virtues that they learned about throughout the year filled with examples to remind them about the importance of these virtues.
I just placed my Kids of Character Pack on TPT. It includes posters for each week of the school year (40 posters) and a yearly journal for character traits with a blank page if you want to include any traits that aren't in the pack.
Click above on either picture to check it out!
Okay let's have some fun!! Please be a follower of my blog, leave me a comment about anything with your email address & I will pick someone via random number generator to win this pack tomorrow. :)
Have a wonderful weekend!!,

  10. Very cute! Our guidance counselor teachers Character Ed, and we have a program called "First Tee" where we go to a golf course and the kids learn core values and then have to practice them in the game of golf. The kids love it!

  31. I just love this! I use the DJ Inkers words to live by packs as my "posters" for helping me with character ed. I was part of a district wide character ed grant so I have oodles of stuff that I use. I am one of the few teachers in my school who find time for this, but I believe in it whole heartedly. Maybe I will post about my resources and how I work them in... I would love this to help me out, 40 weeks done! That would be a life saver. Thanks for the creative genius!
