Hello Sweet Friends, It's Me Again!
Sorry to be posting twice in one day, but I didn't want to miss out on TBA's Open House Week!! Since I haven't been that on top of my blogging, I figure I'm just making up for lost time! :) It's not the Open House that all of us stress out about, but a fun, get to know you kind of week!
Here is the schedule for the week:
Monday- Meet the Teacher- tell us all about you & your teaching style.
Tuesday- Classroom Photos
Wednesday- Handouts for Parents
Thursday- Bulletin Board Photos
Friday- Freebies!!
So here's a little bit about me and how I teach...
I am a 30 year old (almost 31 yikes!) 1st grade teacher who teaches in central Florida. I teach and have only taught 1st grade for 7 1/2 years now. In the beginning, I never even thought about teaching 1st grade. I had wanted to teach the upper elementary grades, but 1st grade was the position open, so I took it. I never looked back and I just fell in love with teaching 1st grade.
When did I decide I wanted to be a teacher?...how about birth? I say that, because I have NEVER even thought about being anything else besides a teacher. I used to line my dolls up when I was younger and teach them. My parents still laugh at me about that!
My teaching style is firm but loving. I create a relaxed learning environment through humor, but my students learn the boundaries of humor from the get-go, so there are never any problems. I have had some difficult students throughout the years that I have been able to get through to & it's the best feeling. I like to provide my students with a plethora of hands on activities. My favorite quote is one from Ben Franklin..."Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn." That is the foundation of my classroom learning environment.
I LOVE MY JOB!! I feel honored to spend 6 1/2 hours a day with my students. I always come to work with a smile on my face, no matter what challenges I may be facing in life, because my students rely on me to be there for them. I still have so much excitement for my job and that excitement keeps on growing every year. It is a great feeling to love to go to work everyday! :)
Don't forget to link up to TBA for Open House Week!
Have a great evening!,
I'm excited about your open house week! Can't wait to see what you share. I can relate to your teaching style, as well.
ReplyDeleteThere is certainly something special about first grade:) I am looking forward to learning more about you and your style. You always leave such sweet comments on posts and I love reading your blog!

I love first grade too! I had to laugh about you lining up your dolls to teach. I did that as a little girl too!
