Hello Friends!
Thank you for the overwhelmingly wonderful response to my back to school follower freebie. If you missed the post, it's not too late! Click HERE to go to the post & leave a comment with your email address. :) I will be sending the packet your way sometime tonight!
It's Friday again and that means that it is time for another edition of Fabulous Blogger Friday. Today I am featuring Susan Moran from T.G.I.F. (Thank God It's First Grade!)
1st Grade
What inspired you to become a teacher?
I am the oldest of 4 and it was probably just my bossiness, but I always wanted to be in charge of my siblings. I learned the easiest way to do this was to play "teacher" with them. In the process I realized I was actually helping my sisters with their homework and teaching them things. I got to watch them grow as learners. It was amazing! I knew right then and there that I wanted to be a teacher when I got older.
Describe your teaching "personality":
Loud, silly, & fun! I am all about movement, games, and interactions while learning. It always makes me laugh when my kids realize hours later that they actually learned something during that "funny game Ms. Moran had us play."
What is your favorite subject to teach?:
I love teaching math! My first year I was horrible at it. I followed the enVisions curriculum verbatim and it was boring and static. I started researching, going to trainings, and creating my own math games and mini units and it was sooo much more effective and FUN! It is where I saw the most growth this year in my students... even with the new, harder, common core standards!
What made you decide to begin blogging?
This past year I discovered TpT and teacher blogs and I was so excited! As a newer teacher I had access to the advice and ideas of amazing teachers ALL over the country. It was seriously phenomenal! I get so much inspiration from people I don't even know and it makes me a better teacher :) I started my own blog because I figure if I could inspire just one other person, the way I have been inspired, than it would be worth it!
If you could give one piece of advice to your fellow teachers & bloggers, what would it be?
Well, I know that when I first started I felt vulnerable letting everyone read my thoughts and ideas, but I would advise others to just be yourself and take a leap of faith! Others will appreciate it!
Finish this sentence:You know you're a teacher when...
Sometimes you talk to your significant other like a 6 year old...and he doesn't appreciate it-woops!
